Mississippi Power sets goal of Sept. 11

Kurt Brautigam just stopped by again with good electrical tidings: Because of the success of the restoration effort to date, Mississippi Power President and CEO Anthony Topazi set a goal to restore power to all of its customers who can safely receive electric service by Sunday, Sept. 11 -- 13 days after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. By Tuesday there will be 9,200 line crews and support personnel coming from across the nation. Topazi noted that it will take several months to rebuild the company's electric system back to its normal state and that several customers may experience service interruptions as problems crop up with damaged and contaminated equipment. A word to you people in the streets: Power company trucks have right of way.

Be prepared for the next galveston hurricane or find another one that's similar. As the Boy Scouts say: "Be Prepared"!
